Cybercrime<\/strong> is a type of crime in which the attacker compromises a computer, networked device or a network for personal gains. The attacker or criminal involved in cyber crimes are known as cybercriminals.<\/p>\n

While most cybercrimes are carried out for personal gains as mentioned earlier, some cybercrimes<\/em> are carried out to damage or disable computers and other devices, while others are used to spread malware, spam, illegal information or other materials.<\/p>\n

Some cybercrimes involve both the activities– i.e., infect the targeted computers with malware and then spread it to other systems and, sometimes, entire networks.<\/p>\n

Types of Cybercrimes and How To Identify Cybercrimes<\/strong><\/p>\n

Identifying a cybercrime depends on the kind of malicious activity carried out by the cybercriminal. If malware gets downloaded on your computer, it might slow down or crash your system. Phishing attacks, on the other hand, trick you into revealing your passwords and personal data.<\/p>\n

Keyloggers which operate silently on the background records your keystrokes (especially banking credentials). There are also chances that your computer getting enslaved to a botnet- helping cybercriminals to perform DDoS attacks, steal private and confidential user data, send spam, etc.<\/p>\n
